After having a long career in human resources, I had a strong desire to connect with others on a deeper level in order to help them access their internal resources and become empowered to make lasting changes. I strongly believe in the importance of a trusting relationship between the therapist and client and meeting a client where they are by utilizing a non-directive humanistic Person-Centered approach. I understand that walking with clients through their journey helps them discover their natural ability that fosters the growth and change they seek.
I specialize in working with children through Play Therapy but am equally passionate about working with adolescents and adults. Additionally, I have experience facilitating Child Parent Relationship Training as the parent/child relationship is critical to the health and wellbeing of the entire family. Most of my clinical experience comes from a private practice setting where I was able to work with clients from diverse backgrounds who experience trauma, depression, anxiety, and grief. I am trained in EMDR but utilize a variety of treatment models including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Person-Centered Therapy, which allows me to really meet a client where they are and tailor the therapeutic process to their individual needs.
I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) and a Nationally Certified Counselor. I earned my Masters’ degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a Certificate in Play Therapy from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
I look forward to the opportunity to be a source of support in this brave step you are taking.
