YOUR STORY MATTERS
SO LET'S TELL IT
Making the decision to pursue counseling is brave — I know because I’ve done it. I don’t think I have the right to counsel others without first having a deep commitment to my own process of self-awareness and growth.
JOYFULLY MOVING THROUGH
GROWTH & RESILIENCE
I find myself continually in awe of the natural human capacity for resilience and am inspired by my clients’ abilities to uncover strength they didn’t know they had. It is a true honor to be part of someone’s journey as they harness that strength to accomplish their goals, whether it be to heal, let go, or grow and ultimately thrive. It has been a joy to develop relationships with my clients as they make positive changes in their lives. I believe that gaining a better understanding of ourselves and what has influenced the way we think and make decisions is a powerful tool in allowing us to make more healthy choices in our lives. Through exploring our past and gaining new insight about ourselves, we are empowered to make positive change for the present and future.

EMILY CANNON (SHE/HER)
MSW, LCSW, RPT-S
Growing up I moved around, but claim Michigan as home and hold a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Michigan State University. As a Louisiana-native, I wanted to get back to my “southern roots” and attended the University of South Carolina for my Master’s Degree in Social Work. I've lived in Charlotte since 2008, and am happy to call the Queen City my forever home. Here, I've obtained a Certificate in Play Therapy from the University of North Carolina Charlotte, become a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor (RPT-S), and have been trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) among other treatment modalities.
When I’m not with clients, you can find me at live music events, cheering on my MSU Spartans (Go Green!), and trying out outdoor activities like bocce ball, tennis, and disc golf. I have a passion for rescuing animals and you'll meet Lucy, one of my dogs who loves working at the office!
Life is demanding, and it can be a struggle to find a balance between all the roles we play and the people who depend on us. Sometimes we have to do so much, it’s hard to feel like we are doing anything right. We lose sight of ourselves and the things that bring us joy. In the busy lives we lead, things can quickly feel overwhelming. You are not alone. The journey becomes less daunting with a compassionate guide by your side. Whether you are looking to identify negative behavior patterns within yourself or relationship, learn coping skills or just need a safe place and someone to talk to, I will meet you where you are, and assist you in achieving your goals.
